You Don’t Have to Be “Adventurous” to Try Something New

The word adventurous can be intimidating.

It makes exploration sound like a personality type.

As though some people naturally belong in the world of curiosity while everyone else should remain safely on the sidelines.

That is nonsense.

You can be shy and curious.

Quiet and open-minded.

Nervous and excited at exactly the same time.

Curiosity Can Be Small

Trying something new does not require reinventing yourself.

It can be one product.

One conversation.

One evening.

One question.

“I wonder what that would be like?”

That is enough.

Start Where You Actually Are

Do not choose based on what seems impressive.

Choose based on what interests you.

Read.

Learn.

Start with adjustable options.

Take your time.

There is no prize for moving quickly.

Nervous Does Not Always Mean No

Sometimes nervous means uncomfortable.

Sometimes it means unsafe.

Listen to that.

But sometimes nervous simply means:

This is new.

Only you can decide the difference.

You Are Allowed to Be a Beginner

Nobody begins as an expert.

You can read the instructions.

You can start slowly.

You can change your mind.

You can decide something is not for you.

Exploration is not a performance.

It is simply discovery.

Start with the thing that makes you curious enough to keep looking at it. That may be your answer.
